What is Green?
At JEFFCO, we have taken this new building science phenomenon very
seriously and have educated ourselves in the many facets of sustainable
topics, as well as become certified through the National Association of
Homebuilders, Certified Green Professional program. This certification
is much more than just sitting in two days of class rooms, studying a
prepared test booklet and reaping the rewards of being able to add CGP
after one's name.
Becoming a Green Professional means that one has dedicated his or her
business to the core framework of What is Green? Green Building
incorporates environmental considerations and resource efficiency into
every step of the building and development process to minimize
environmental impact. The design, construction and operation of a home
must focus on the energy and water efficiency, resource efficient
building design and materials, indoor air quality, and most important
take the home's overall impact on the environment into account.
Many of the features we all read about, in dealing with energy
guidelines residentially involve the Energy Star ratings for our home
products, i.e. appliances, light bulbs, fixtures, just to name a few.
Water efficient features deal with low flow shower heads, faucets and
toilets to name a few, as well as water distributing heating and cooling
systems. Geothermal heating and cooling systems epitomize the green
building revolution in this regard taking advantage of the earths riches
to supply the energy needed to perform.
The list of household items is endless, low VOC paints, insulation
methods, drywall, trims, door types, etc. At JEFFCO our commitment is
fully intended to benefit our clients and the environment, a goal that
will never waiver.
